Illustrate It!

TIP: Divide a sheet of paper into 6 squares.  Using key vocabulary, write a descriptive sentence at the bottom of each square.  Direct students to draw a picture for each sentence.  As an extension, direct students to fold under a row of sentences and ask a partner to guess the sentence based on the picture.  Great for assessing comprehension and reviewing content vocabulary.  For example, The toucan is sitting in a branch; The president signs a bill; The farmers harvest the crops; Three cells are dividing etc.
