Handshake Problem

Tip: Handshake Problem

How do I do it?
Give students problems that they can act out in the class in small groups.  Working with real problems and engaging their visual and kinesthetic skills can help English Learners understand the problem and the solution.  For example:
When two people shake hands, there is one handshake.  When three people shake hands with one another there are three handshakes.  How many with 4 people?  5 people?  10?  30?  50?  Can you find a pattern?
